Kitchen Colors: What’s Trending for 2022

Kitchen design trends seem to be constantly changing. For 2022, the trend is to go for comfort. Warm colors, natural elements like wood and stones, and mixtures of painted and stained cabinetry are all trends for the kitchen.
If you want to try a color, but you’re afraid to paint your entire room, you might try using color on a countertop, or backsplash. One trend is to use a contrasting color on the island that sets it apart from the other cabinetry. Let’s look at some of the projected favorite color trends for 2022.

Green
Green has long been a favorite color for kitchens. Muted green is the trend for 2022. If you are more of a white kitchen person complete with white Shaker cabinets, perhaps you could consider green on your island or as an accent wall. Or maybe a splash of green in your accessories will add the right amount of color to your room.

Blue
Muted blues are another trendy way to add color to the busiest room in the house. Imagine Navy Blue kitchen cabinets, white countertops, and a wood range hood. That kitchen would be both calm and warm. If blue is too bold for your entire room, perhaps a small area like the backsplash would be a more comfortable place to start.

White
White is one color that is always in style. So, if you adore White Shaker kitchen cabinets, keep them. One of the trends for 2022 is finding what makes you feel comfortable, and going with that design element. Let’s face it, some of us can’t imagine a kitchen that isn’t white.

Gray
Gray is a nice, neutral color that can be a good compromise for the person who doesn’t want a white kitchen but is afraid to go too bold with their color choice. Grays range from very light to dark charcoal. Some grays now have elements of other colors like green or blue mixed into them. Gray and beige are even combined into a color they call greige by some designers.

Black
If you want to go bold with your color choice in the kitchen, consider black. Black has long been a choice for appliances and accessories, but now it’s being used on walls and cabinetry. For those who don’t want to go all black in the kitchen, an accent wall, backsplash, or perhaps the island cabinetry are possibilities for trying the color without committing to an entirely black kitchen.

Wood Tones
Wood tones bring a natural element into your kitchen. Picture a wood range hood, a matching wooden island, and painted cabinetry in other areas of the kitchen. The mixture of painted and stained elements would give natural warmth to the room. Wooden countertops on an island, if not throughout the kitchen, create a nice conversation piece.

Kitchen trends vary from year to year. In 2022, the trends are toward warmth and comfort. Those of us who want an all-white kitchen can still choose a monochromatic scheme. If it makes you comfortable, trendy or not, do it.
